Lung cancer information and support

  

Asthma + Lung UK is a Patient Information Forum (PIF) TICK accredited website that offers trusted information about lung cancer they explain what causes lung cancer, how it’s diagnosed and treated. There’s also guidance on lung cancer screening and where to find support, including a friendly helpline you can contact.

  Mesothelioma UK is the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma, the asbestos-related cancer. We exist to support people with mesothelioma to live better and longer, and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations. We do this by advocating for better treatment and care, enhancing quality of life, supporting research and amplifying the patient’s voice. Our team, which includes a team of specialist nurses based in NHS trusts across the country, strives to help everyone affected by mesothelioma access the expertise, care and support they need - no matter where they live in the UK. 

Skin care during radiotherapy

This leaflet, published by the Society and College of Radiographers, provides patients receiving radiotherapy with up-to-date skincare guidance. The information is based on expert consensus and review of the available evidence. The information is endorsed by Breast Cancer Now.

General radiotherapy information and support





Macmillan Cancer Support is a Patient Information Forum TICK accredited (PIF TICK Certification | Patient Information Forum) website. This website gives information about radiotherapy and the side-effects, including the impact on sex life and fertility. It provides information in other languages and formats such as British Sign Language and easy read information.


The NHS website gives an overview of radiotherapy and some of the  side effects. There is also a video explaining what happens during radiotherapy.

Radiotherapy UK is a Patient Information Forum TICK accredited ( PIF TICK Certification | Patient Information Forum) Patients and Families online hub. Learn more about your pathway through radiotherapy treatment, your treatment team, side effects and late-effects of radiotherapy, and get helpful ideas on questions to ask so you feel empowered to understand your treatment. Browse patient stories and soak in information that has been approved by patients and clinicians, all in your own time and in the comfort of your own home.
